About Pangram Labs
Pangram Labs’ mission is to protect authenticity by building the world’s best AI detection systems. We publish research on state-of-the-art AI detection techniques and algorithms, and build products to bring our technology into people's daily lives.
We are looking for high agency, mission-driven, and passionate builders to join our team. All roles are in person in Brooklyn, New York.
About the Team
We are a small, tight-knit team of researchers and engineers who care deeply about our work and each other. We believe that a small group of highly talented, empowered, and efficient people can outperform teams many times their size. Everyone on the team has meaningful ownership over the technical and strategic direction of the company.
Pangram is primarily an in-person company. We are high-touch, high-energy, and extremely collaborative by nature and choose to spend time together to do our best thinking and innovation.
About the Role
We're hiring a forward-deployed engineer to own the technical relationship with our highest-touch enterprise and education customers, from first technical conversation through deployment, integration, and long-term expansion. This is a hybrid of sales engineering, solutions engineering, and customer success, and it's deeply hands-on. You'll be in customer environments writing code, debugging integrations, and translating real-world requirements into working deployments, then carrying what you learn back to our product and engineering teams.
This is the right role for a strong full-stack engineer who is energized and excited by a customer-facing role.
What you'll do
Serve as the primary technical owner for enterprise and education accounts across the full lifecycle: pre-sales scoping, proof-of-concept, integration, onboarding, and ongoing success.
Design and build customer-facing integrations against our API — LMS connections (Canvas and similar), batch-processing pipelines, SSO, internal content-moderation workflows, and custom tooling that doesn't exist yet.
Embed with customers to understand their workflows, then prototype and ship solutions directly, rather than handing off a spec.
Run technical demos, scoping calls, and POCs alongside the sales team, and act as the credible technical voice in the room for security reviews, procurement, and architecture discussions.
Troubleshoot live deployment and detection-accuracy issues, working across the stack from API behavior to data pipelines.
Be the feedback loop between customers and product/engineering — surfacing patterns, filing well-characterized issues, and influencing the roadmap based on what you see in the field.
Produce the durable assets that scale your work: integration guides, reference implementations, runbooks, and internal documentation.
Required technical skills
Languages & frameworks: Strong proficiency in Python and/or Node.js on the backend, plus JavaScript/TypeScript and a modern frontend framework (React, Vue, or similar).
APIs & integrations: Hands-on experience designing and consuming REST APIs, including authentication and authorization flows (OAuth 2.0, SSO/SAML, API keys) and webhook-based integrations.
Data & storage: Working knowledge of SQL and relational databases; comfort building and debugging data pipelines and batch-processing jobs.
Cloud & deployment: Familiarity with at least one major cloud provider (AWS, GCP, or Azure), containerization (Docker), and CI/CD fundamentals.
Tooling & debugging: Fluency with Git, command-line workflows, and reading logs/network traffic to diagnose live integration issues across the stack.
Security & compliance awareness: Practical understanding of how to handle customer data securely and support enterprise security reviews (SSO, data residency, access controls).
Requirements
4+ years of software engineering experience, with genuine full-stack depth across frontend, backend, and APIs.
Strong customer instincts. You communicate clearly with both engineers and non-technical stakeholders, and you stay calm and credible when a deployment is on the line.
Comfortable with ambiguity and ownership — you'll often be the only Pangram person in a customer conversation, and you're trusted to make the call.
Able to context-switch between deep technical work and relationship management without dropping either.
