Product Manager is the most-posted tech role in our database. Not engineer, not designer — PM. 3,136 open roles across 1,260 companies as of today. Here's what the market actually looks like.

What's changing about the PM role

The job description for "Product Manager" hasn't changed dramatically on the surface. Roadmaps, stakeholder alignment, user research, launch. But the underlying competency expectations have shifted fast in the AI era.

The new baseline: PMs are expected to be hands-on with AI tools for their own work (research synthesis, user feedback analysis, spec writing), and increasingly, expected to PM AI-powered features directly. That means understanding what LLMs can and can't do reliably, how to write evaluation criteria for probabilistic outputs, and how to think about user trust when the product's behaviour is non-deterministic.

The companies hiring most aggressively aren't looking for process managers. They're looking for people who can ship AI products that users actually trust.

The data: 3,136 open PM roles across 1,260 companies

3,136 active roles. 1,260 companies. 394 new roles added in the last 7 days.

394 new PM openings per week is the highest weekly volume of any niche we track. Product management has always been high-volume, but the AI era has expanded scope — more products to ship, more AI features requiring PM ownership.

Who's hiring most aggressively

Company Open PM roles
OKX 49
Airwallex 43
Theodo 30
INFUSE 30
Stripe 29
NVIDIA 28
Databricks 26

OKX (crypto exchange) and Airwallex (cross-border payments) at the top reflects the fintech sector's aggressive expansion. Both companies are scaling product teams globally. Stripe at 29 and Databricks at 26 represent the developer platform and data infrastructure categories — both notorious for high PM-to-engineer ratios and rigorous PM hiring bars.

NVIDIA entering the top 10 is notable. They've historically been engineer-led; the expansion of their software platform strategy (CUDA, NIM, developer tools) requires PM capability they haven't traditionally had in-house.

What they pay

Of 3,136 roles, 1,256 (40.1%) have a published salary. Among USD roles:

  • Median: $201,800/year
  • 25th percentile: $173,243
  • 75th percentile: $230,000

$202k median is competitive — PM compensation has converged with senior engineering in the tech sector. The 40.1% disclosure rate is the highest of any non-engineering niche we track, driven by fintech and AI companies that compete hard for PM talent and use salary transparency as a recruiting tool.

What this tells us about the PM market

1. 1,260 companies hiring PMs simultaneously is a market-wide signal. This isn't concentrated at a handful of AI labs or fintech unicorns. Every company with a product team is hiring, which means the competition varies wildly by context: getting a PM role at a startup is not the same exercise as getting one at Stripe.

2. $202k median is post-repricing, not aspirational. The PM market repriced significantly between 2021 and 2024. What you see here isn't inflated by a few outlier roles — it's the middle of the distribution across 1,256 roles with disclosed pay.

3. Fintech is the primary demand driver right now. OKX, Airwallex, Stripe, Brex — cross-border payments, crypto, and developer financial infrastructure are all expanding their product organisations simultaneously. If you have fintech domain knowledge on top of core PM skills, you're in a strong position.

4. "AI PM" is the emerging premium sub-role. Roles that specifically involve PMing AI features (LLM integrations, autonomous agents, AI-native workflows) are commanding a premium over standard PM roles. The market hasn't cleanly separated these titles yet, but filtering for "AI" or "LLM" in the job description surfaces a distinct tier.
