Solutions Architect: 1,251 open roles, $194k median — and Databricks is hiring 143 of them

1,251 open Solutions Architect roles. 357 companies. Median $194k USD. The SA market in July 2026 — direct from public ATS feeds.

Solutions Architect sits at a specific intersection: deep enough technically to design systems that actually work at scale, senior enough in communication to work directly with customers and executives. In the AI era, the job has gotten harder and the market has gotten larger.

I track Solutions Architect roles daily from public ATS feeds. Here's the July 2026 picture.

What a Solutions Architect does

A Solutions Architect translates business requirements into production-grade technical design. They work with customers (external SA) or internal engineering teams (internal/enterprise architect) to choose services, patterns, and trade-offs — and then own the outcome of that design.

The AI era has added two new dimensions to the role. First, cloud architects now need genuine understanding of AI/ML infrastructure: how to design vector database layers, LLM serving infrastructure, RAG pipelines, fine-tuning workflows. Second, the proliferation of AI SaaS tools means architects spend more time on integration design — connecting the AI platform with existing enterprise data, identity, and security systems.

At cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure) and AI infrastructure companies (Databricks, Snowflake), Solutions Architects are the revenue-protecting layer: they ensure enterprise customers successfully deploy and scale the platform, directly defending NRR.

The data: 1,251 open SA roles across 357 companies

1,251 active roles. 357 companies. 275 new roles in the last 7 days.

275 new openings per week against a 357-company base signals high turnover and aggressive growth — not a stable, mature market. Companies are actively building out SA teams, not just replacing attrition.

Who's hiring most aggressively

Company Open SA roles
Databricks 143
NVIDIA 123
MongoDB 38
Anthropic 25
Stripe 24
Snowflake 23
GitLab 22

Databricks at 143 and NVIDIA at 123 are extraordinary numbers for a single company. Both are in aggressive global expansion — Databricks pushing into enterprise AI data platforms, NVIDIA building out its software ecosystem. Solutions Architects are their customer-success and technical-adoption engine: for every enterprise deal, there are one or more SAs ensuring it doesn't fail in production.

Anthropic at 25 is a newer entrant in this market and a strong signal. As Anthropic moves from API-first to enterprise-first sales, they need SAs to ensure Claude deployments succeed inside large organisations.

What they pay

Of 1,251 roles, 393 (31.4%) have a published salary. Among USD roles:

  • Median: $193,550/year
  • 25th percentile: $167,500
  • 75th percentile: $227,350

Competitive with senior engineering roles — which makes sense, since SA is a senior-track position at most companies. The P75 ($227k) reflects the top end of the market at AI-native and cloud platform companies where SAs are directly tied to revenue outcomes.

Freshness: 275 new roles in 7 days

22% weekly velocity relative to the base — among the highest of any niche we track. This market is actively growing, not coasting.

What this tells us about the SA market

1. Databricks and NVIDIA alone account for 266 of 1,251 open roles — 21% of the market. If you're a Solutions Architect open to either, the job market just became very simple. Both run large global SA organisations with structured career progression and competitive comp.

2. The AI platform companies are the new cloud platform companies. Five years ago, the primary SA employers were AWS, GCP, Azure partners. Today, Databricks, Snowflake, MongoDB, and Anthropic are doing the same volume. The underlying job — ensure enterprise customers successfully adopt a complex platform — is the same; the platform has changed.

3. 357 companies is relatively concentrated. Compared to 883 companies for ML/AI engineers, the SA market is tighter — fewer employers, more volume per employer. That means individual company culture and comp structure matter more in your job search.

4. AI knowledge is now a hard requirement, not a soft plus. Every SA JD we're seeing in the AI infrastructure space lists LLM integration, vector databases, or ML pipeline architecture as a required skill. If your SA experience is purely on traditional enterprise software or cloud infrastructure, the AI upskill is real work — but also a real opportunity.
