About the Role
The Sales Engineering team at Blackpoint plays a critical role in advancing the sales process by providing deep technical expertise and guidance. As a Sales Engineer, you will work directly with partners to demonstrate how our innovative cybersecurity solutions align with their needs and meaningfully strengthen their security posture.
This is an ANZ-based role supporting Blackpoint's partner network across Australia and New Zealand, and requires strong familiarity with the region's regulatory bodies, threat landscape, and MSP community.
Joining Blackpoint means contributing to how businesses defend themselves against evolving threats in a collaborative, high-energy environment where your expertise is valued and your impact is tangible.
What You'll Do
Serve as the ANZ subject matter expert (SME) in cybersecurity and Blackpoint's product portfolio, clearly articulating our unique value relative to competing solutions.
Collaborate with Sales, Marketing, Product, Engineering, and Support teams to bridge the technical gap between Blackpoint and its customers.
Lead demos and trials that showcase Blackpoint's core value, uncover customer pain points, deliver technical discovery, and translate complex concepts into clear, actionable insights that move deals forward.
Present webinars and deliver presentations to audiences of varying sizes to evangelise Blackpoint, highlight differentiators, and educate partners on our capabilities.
Apply deep knowledge of cybersecurity technologies and frameworks (NIST, CIS, SMB1001, PCI-DSS, ISO 27001, the ACSC Essential Eight, the NZISM, and APRA CPS 234), along with Australian and New Zealand privacy law (Australia's Privacy Act 1988, including the Notifiable Data Breaches scheme, and New Zealand's Privacy Act 2020), to help customers meet their security and compliance goals.
Provide customer-driven insights to Product and Engineering to support roadmap alignment and continuous improvement.
Build working knowledge of the Australian Cyber Security Centre (ACSC) and New Zealand's National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC)/CERT NZ, and how local MSP partners engage with each.
What You'll Bring
4+ years of experience in Sales Engineering, Pre-Sales, or similar client-facing technical roles, ideally within the MSP or SMB space across Australia and New Zealand.
Experience with cybersecurity technologies such as endpoint security (MDR, EDR, antivirus, IDS/IPS, firewalls), network design (IP addressing, DNS, DHCP), Microsoft 365, Azure, and Windows administration.
Strong familiarity with security frameworks and compliance standards (NIST, CIS, SMB1001, PCI-DSS, ISO 27001, the ACSC Essential Eight, the NZISM, and APRA CPS 234), and Australian and New Zealand privacy law (Australia's Privacy Act 1988, New Zealand's Privacy Act 2020).
Experience working with SaaS platforms and Managed Service Providers (MSPs), especially in cybersecurity contexts.
Excellent presentation, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage both technical and non-technical stakeholders, bringing a listen-first, partner-centric growth mindset.
Strong time-management and organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple customer engagements independently.
Based in Australia or New Zealand, with full working rights and willingness to travel across the region, including trans-Tasman travel.
Experience with ChatGPT, Claude, and agentic tools such as Claude Code and Microsoft Copilot, including collaborative automation platforms such as Cowork.
Travel
This role requires travel across Australia and New Zealand (approximately 30–40% of the year), including interstate and trans-Tasman travel, for client meetings, partner visits, and participation in industry events, vendor trade shows, and key associations such as the AISA Cyber Conference and NZISF events.
