Your future position As a Senior Fullstack Engineer for the MarineTraffic Inbox crew, your mission is to be an engineering leader, driving high-impact initiatives that make our email client reliable, scalable, and easy to evolve. You'll work across our existing platform while helping us build the next generation of our architecture. We're maintaining our legacy Ruby on Rails platform for BAU while rewriting core backend components as modern, event-driven microservices, using technologies including Ruby on Rails, Python, Node.js, TypeScript, and Kafka. You don't need to be an expert in every technology we use. We're open to engineers coming from different backend backgrounds. What matters most is your ability to design and build reliable microservices and large-scale distributed systems, solve complex technical problems, and work effectively with distributed systems. Hands-on experience with event-driven architectures, particularly Kafka, is highly valued. We're also looking for someone who can quickly build an understanding of the email and shipping domains. You'll have opportunities to expand your technology skill set as you grow into the role. You'll also work closely with engineers, product managers, designers, and other stakeholders, while mentoring junior and mid-level engineers and helping shape how we build and operate our systems.
