Join Modulate as we pioneer the future of conversational intelligence.
Modulate is the leader in conversational voice intelligence. We enable platforms and enterprises to deeply understand how people communicate and take timely action based on those insights.
Our products help detect harm, prevent fraud, and build safer, more trusted online and real-world voice environments. We are building a self-serve Conversation Intelligence Platform—APIs, workflows, and applications that bring voice understanding to customers at enterprise scale.
We're looking for a Staff Fullstack Engineer with a strong backend focus to help build and scale the systems that power our Developer and Enterprise APIs. While you'll work across the stack when needed, the majority of your time will be spent designing, building, and scaling backend services that bring our ML-powered voice technology to customers.
Your Impact
You will play a critical role in bringing our world-class ML audio models to market through robust, scalable backend systems and APIs. Your work will directly impact both our product velocity and our ability to serve enterprise and developer customers.
You will:
Develop and iterate on early-stage products that are key to Modulate's success
Build and evolve the backend services that power our Conversation Intelligence Platform
Expand the capabilities and use cases supported by our APIs
Improve scalability, reliability, and performance across core systems
Establish strong architectural foundations for long-term growth
Accelerate Modulate's ability to serve both enterprise and developer customers
What You'll Do
Collaborate with engineers and product leaders to scope, design, and deliver new platform capabilities
Design, build, test, and deploy backend services and APIs that power customer-facing products
Build frontend functionality where needed to create seamless end-to-end product experiences
Maintain and operate production systems to ensure reliability, scalability, and performance
Debug complex production issues and continuously improve system stability
Contribute to architecture decisions and engineering best practices
Mentor teammates through code reviews, design discussions, and technical leadership
What We're Looking For
Strong experience with object-oriented Python
Experience designing and building production-grade APIs and backend systems
Fullstack engineering experience, with a clear strength and passion for backend development
Experience building greenfield products and scaling existing production systems
Strong understanding of system architecture, scalability, and distributed systems
Proven ability to collaborate effectively across engineering teams
Experience shipping products from concept to production
Nice to Have
Experience with cloud infrastructure and containerized environments
Experience working alongside ML or AI teams
Experience with React or other modern frontend frameworks
Experience building developer platforms or enterprise products
